If you are a blogger then question like "How do I increase its engagement?" would be troubling you always. Right? We have been reading "Content is king" many times, which is true. The quality of the content really makes the difference in getting it discovered & shared.
Year by year the attention span of users is decreasing. Blame the competition & the greediness of wanting to grasp the content in very short time. But who are we to blame others? We also do the same. We all have busy lives & in whatever spare time we get, we try to consume the content which is interesting, helpful at the earliest.
Here I am sharing some simple tips on how you can increase your blog engagement:
- Use images
Images help in grabbing attention easily & they play a vital role in enhancing the look of the blog post. Just scroll your timeline on Twitter or Facebook, your attention will go on the posts with images immediately. Same applies to the blog post. If a blog post has amazing relevant image/s to support, the reader will not get bored & will concentrate in reading.
As per HubSpot: People are likely to remember only 10% of that information three days later. However, if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people retain 65% of the information three days later.
Content with relevant images gets 94% more views than content without relevant images.
So make sure you add relevant image/s to your blog post but don't overdo it.
- Use short paragraphs
Lengthy paragraphs are boring to read & they will also make readers think that there is a huge task of reading in front of them & somehow they will be losing the concentration. So create short paragraphs which will eventually make it easier to read.
- Use short sentences
Similar to lengthy paragraphs, long sentences can be a big turn off for readers. Try to come up with sentences the way you would speak. It will be much easier to read & help readers to stay focused.
- Keep the language simple
Complicated language will make the content tough to understand & it will also limit the radius of the audience. Use of simple language will widen your audience & it will become easy for the readers to understand and pay attention to it.
- Don't underestimate the power of white spaces
Let there be white spaces on your blog. It will allow readers to concentrate on the content more efficiently & their attention will not get diverted.
- Use bullet points wherever necessary
Bullet points are the best way to grab attention towards the content which is informative. If you want to explain something or put your views in front of the readers, use bullet points.
- Play with formatting
Images, bullet points, paragraphs, white spaces are good ways to build a reading flow of the blog post, but at the same time also try to put efforts on the formatting, styling of the typography by applying bold, italics & underline features to the text. This will make your blog post stand out.
- Game up your social sharing strategy
You have put efforts in writing the blog post so why not tell the world about it? Share your blog posts with your friends on social media & also make sure the social sharing buttons are easily noticeable so it will become easy for the readers to further share it to their set of friends.
- Don't forget to share your blog posts several times on social media
If you share your blog post on social media just once, there is a high possibility that not many people would have even noticed it. So make sure you share it more than once at different time zones in order to get your blog post noticed by many people.
